Couples who dream of having outdoor weddings usually picture the end result first: A ceremony surrounded by tropical foliage, cocktails in the garden, and dancing the night away beneath soft market lighting and the stars themselves. While this is exactly the type of magic we create here at Celebration Gardens, what couples typically don’t realize is that a lot of planning goes into making these outdoor weddings absolutely perfect. Our team here guides couples through the process of navigating summer rain showers, choosing heat-friendly menus, planning for guest comfort, and more.
Although this may seem intimidating, the truth is that every wedding requires intentional planning behind the scenes. Outdoor weddings simply prioritize a different kind of experience and for couples who have always envisioned celebrating surrounded by nature, fresh air, and the beauty of Orlando’s landscape, that extra intention is always worth it. With the right venue and vendor team, outdoor weddings in Orlando can truly feel every bit as stress-free and comfortable as they are beautiful.
If you’re considering an outdoor wedding in Central Florida, here’s everything you need to know to bring your wedding vision to life!
Best Seasons for Outdoor Weddings in Orlando
Time of year is everything when it comes to wedding planning! It determines the weather, availability of venues and vendors, and travel pricing. Since these factors play a huge role in your day, it’s important you are fully informed about the pros and cons of having outdoor weddings in each season of the year before making your selection.
Winter Weddings
Usually, winter weddings are associated with snowy climates, but here in Orlando, winter is actually one of the best seasons for outdoor weddings thanks to the milder temperatures, lower chances of rain, and comfortable evenings that allow guests to fully enjoy the outdoor experience. Nights can get cold, but that’s why our main reception space, the Grand Pavilion, comes with mushroom heaters as needed to ensure you and your guests are comfortable all evening long.
Excluding the major holidays, winter is considered off-peak season for weddings in Orlando, so you can expect venues and vendors to be more flexible in dates and pricing for things like flights, hotels, and attractions to be on the less expensive side.

Spring Weddings
On the flip side, spring is Orlando’s peak season for weddings, and for good reason! Temperatures are still moderate and of course, the Florida flowers and foliage are springing back to life, making for a stunning setting. The challenge that any wedding has during spring, especially outdoor weddings, is the occasional spring rain shower.
At Celebration Gardens, we have perfected our Plan B rain plan. Here, our ceremony site called the Gazebo Lawn and our cocktail hour space within the botanical gardens are fully outdoors, but our reception space named the Grand Pavilion is covered. In nice weather, it has open air siding to allow a fresh breeze to pass through and guests to enjoy the view of the gardens. However, in inclement weather, we have the option to activate the transparent, pull down siding to shield guests from any rain while still enabling them to take in the scenery. Summer Weddings
Summer outdoor weddings in Orlando are more doable than you may think! While Orlando is infamous for its summer afternoon thunderstorms, they’re actually like clockwork where we can expect them within about the same timeframe each day. They also typically only last a few minutes, allowing us to easily plan around them!
Naturally, summer also brings higher temperatures, but between refreshments from the John Michael Events team and the built-in fans in the Grand Pavilion, we’ll make sure you and your loved ones stay cool and comfortable throughout the celebration!
Summer outdoor weddings in Orlando offer so many beautiful possibilities, so we put together a guide to help couples plan with ease. Read all the details below to see if summer is the right wedding season for you!

Fall Weddings
Last but not least, fall is the other peak wedding season in Orlando! Like spring, autumn generally brings more comfortable, milder weather that’s ideal for outdoor weddings, but the main consideration to keep in mind is hurricane season. Fall doesn’t bring storms every afternoon as in summer, but there is the chance a hurricane will hit. This is the perfect example of how having a top tier wedding vendor team will prevent so much stress.
Our Celebration Gardens and John Michael Events’ teams have hosted weddings in Orlando for decades and so, we’re no strangers to smoothly handling rain or a hurricane with ease! Our top priority is making wedding planning as seamless for you as possible, which means proactively thinking through every “what if” scenario and having a solid, well-prepared plan in place, just in case it’s ever needed.
How to Keep Guests Comfortable at Outdoor Weddings
Guest experience is always at the top of our wedding planning list of priorities, especially for outdoor weddings! No matter the time of year, it’s important to plan for the elements and stay ahead of them. There are plenty of ways to keep your friends and family comfortable in a practical sense while still maintaining a cohesive, beautiful aesthetic for your special day. Take these ideas for example:
- You can set decorative hand fans on each ceremony seat that will help guests stay cool while also providing them with a unique wedding favor.
- Consider providing parasols in your wedding colors to help protect guests from the sun. These also make for elegant photo props!
- The John Michael Events beverage team is happy to work with you to create refreshing signature drinks! From a classic paloma to a mojito to a limoncello spritz, your signature cocktails can be both aesthetically pleasing and ideal for keeping guests cool.
- Set up amenity kits in the guest restrooms. These can include items like a hydrating facial spray, hand lotion, tissues, hair pins, and other small essentials guests may appreciate throughout the evening.
- For the cooler months of the year, setting out blankets by the fire pit is a cozy and cute way to keep guests warm while encouraging them to relax, gather, and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. We can also set out s’mores kits for the ultimate cozy experience!
Don’t forget to plan ahead for yourself as well! It’s always a good idea to have a mini hair & makeup bag handy at the wedding with extra bobby pins, lipstick, blotting papers etc. That way, you can quickly freshen up as needed and remain feeling your absolute best, no matter what.
Choosing the Right Outdoor Wedding Venue in Orlando
Selecting the right venue for outdoor weddings is crucial in establishing the right vibe and atmosphere for the day you envision. Not only do the aesthetics need to align perfectly, but the logistics have to make sense as well. That’s not even mentioning taking your experience with the venue team into consideration! Here’s what you can expect from us at Celebration Gardens:
Aesthetics
Throughout Orlando, we are known for being the top botanical garden wedding venue! Around every corner, you’ll find colorful, tropical flowers and greenery, from the bougainvillea trellis in the center of our gardens to the lush star jasmine archways that frame the ceremony Gazebo Lawn. Trust us, the scent from all the fresh flowers is as heavenly as the sights! Our venue feels like stepping into a real-life storybook, offering a naturally romantic backdrop for every part of your wedding day.
We also continue to consistently improve the grounds and gardens through our full-time landscaping team, Botanical Harmony. They ensure every plant thrives year-round, also continually adding new flower types to maintain variety and a new experience with each season.

Logistics
We designed our Orlando wedding venue with weddings in mind, including the way each space flows effortlessly into the next, the Grand Pavilion’s built-in weather-ready features, and the flexibility to comfortably accommodate guest lists of any size, large or small. We’ve thought of everything, from having a dedicated mini gazebo for your ceremony musicians to a designated covered area for your reception DJ to a built-in bar area at cocktail hour that’s both easy for guests to access while still keeping the flow of the space open and unobstructed.

The experience you have with us during wedding planning is just as important to us as your experience on the wedding day itself!
Common Concerns About Outdoor Weddings

We have a comprehensive rain plan to ensure guest safety and comfort, no matter what the weather does. Our Grand Pavilion reception space comes with built-in fans, heaters, paved flooring, and optional pull-down siding to allow for a fresh breeze when the weather is nice, but full enclosure if the weather is inclement.
Will guests be too hot?
With the proper planning, we can keep you and your guests cool throughout your outdoor wedding! Setting out hand fans, parasols, and refreshing beverages are just a few ways to accomplish this. You can also keep small amenity kits in the restrooms for when guests need to freshen up.
